DNN Hangout - August 2015 - Introducing Aricie’s PortalKeeper Module

Jean-Sylvain Boige introduces us to PortalKeeper by Aricie

It’s always exciting for me to meet someone in the DNN community that I haven’t met before.  This hangout is one of those times.  In this hangout, we speak with Jess (or Jean-Sylvain Boige) of Aricie.  He’s the CTO of Aricie and the genius mind behind the module for DNN called PortalKeeper.  I must admit, I didn’t know anything about PortalKeeper before this hangout, but rest assured… this is going to be a pretty standard tool of mine for current and future projects.  If you’ve gotten even the beginnings of a technical bone in your body, you’re sure to geek-out just like I did!

DNN Hangout - May 2015 - Mandeeps Presents the New Live Forms Module

Mandeeps Presents: The New Live Forms Module

In this episode, we have the pleasure to speak with another veteran of the DNN community, Mandeep Singh.  Mandeep is the CEO and founder of Mandeeps, one of the most successful and seasoned vendors in the DNN ecosystem.  Like some of our previous guests, Mandeep has been using DNN since the beginning – and it shows.  He and his team have been extremely successful in building up a large following of customers due to their focus on usability and support.  As you’ll soon find out, they are raising the bar with the latest Live Forms release.

DNNHangout - December 2014 - Page Templates & How to Streamline Content Setup

DNNHangout: Interview with Aderson Oliveira & Learn about DNN templates

As one of the more prominent producers of DNN video content, it seemed only logical that we should invite Aderson Oliveira of DNNHero to come and speak to us.  He instantly suggested that we speak about templates in DNN and how they can be used to streamline content creation.  As a huge fan of templates myself, I was excited about his presentation immediately.  Not only did he not disappoint, but he covered nearly every aspect on this topic.  So much so, that Joe and I really didn’t have any questions – and neither did our audience!

Presentation: DNN Database Tips and Tricks

Hotcakes Commerce Presents: DNN Database Tips & Tricks

If you’re arriving to this blog for the first time, you may not know that I’ve been working with DNN nearly since it was released.  That’s well over 10 years of managing DNN sites of various sizes, purposes, and deployments.  This experience has ranged from businesses that run on the platform, to running subsets of an organizations web properties on it, and more.  During my consulting days, I saw all kinds of DNN sites.  This wide range of challenges has resulted in learning a large number of things – including how to leverage SQL Server to solve problems in a creative way.  That’s what this session was about.

No Folders in DotNetNuke RadEditor Image Manager

Radeditor Image Manager: Missing Folders

You may or may not be experiencing a problem with your DotNetNuke website after upgrading to version 05.06.02.  There is a chance that following your upgrade, there will be folders missing from the image manager when you go to edit content, like shown in the image above.  In some cases, ALL folders will be missing from the window.  This doesn’t appear to be an all inclusive bug, but many of you either have or will see this issue on your site.

How to Upload Restricted File Types in DotNetNuke

I am answering a common question on the DotNetNuke forums. There is a bit more to think about when uploading a restricted file type, other than just enabling it.

Suggested DotNetNuke Site Upgrade Path(s)

Believe it or not, there are quite a few people out there running on versions of DotNetNuke, and haven't upgraded in quite a long time.  This could happen for any number of reasons.  But it's important to know that upgrading is not always as easy as just dowloading and upgrading to the most recent version.  Due to feature inclusion/exclusion, database schema changes, and more, there may be stops you have to make in the upgrade process.

HOW TO: Clear the Cache in DotNetNuke (DNN)

Although for many of you, it may be very elementary as to how you would clear the cache in DotNetNuke (DNN), this is simply not the case for everyone out there. It is for this reason that I thought it would be a good idea to blog about it.
