A littler over a year ago, I was hungry and was looking for a new place to have a meal. During my online search, I found a local place that claimed to have the world’s hottest hamburger. It is at The Swingin’ Door and the burger is called the Habanero XXX Burger. You have to sign a waiver just to eat it! I just had to have it…
I am a sucker for some hot food, and I simply love habaneros. Anyone that knows me either knows this, or has even tried the habanero sauce that my family makes. I have my own spin on our family recipe, but it’s still hot! While I don’t strive to look for and complete hot food challenges, when they arise, I often have to hold myself back from trying them out.
The Habanero XXX Burger is probably the hottest thing I’ve ever eaten. Only one other thing I can think of comes to mind (hot wings at the Boulder Creek Brewing Company). Everything else is a distant second place.
Apparently, the Cooking Channel (a subsidiary of the Food Network) thought enough of the reputation of this burger that they filmed an episode of Heat Seekers there to highlight it. Kim and I were lucky enough to be able to hang out with them while they were filming. It was quite a blast to see the hosts react to the burgers, and to literally participate in the “behind the scenes” elements of a television show.
Knowing that Kim and I would probably be on TV, I made sure to wear a DotNetNuke shirt to try and get it on TV, and we made sure to find out when it would air so we could try and watch it and possibly record it. Unfortunately, it aired during the time that the family and I were on a cross-country road trip from Florida to California, so we never saw it. Since then, we could not find it anywhere.
That changed tonight. We went back there for dinner tonight with Joe Brinkman, and we asked about the episode. We were hoping that they were given copies that we could watch. They pointed us to their recording that they put on YouTube! So, watch below, and you will see Kim and I in our ground-breaking roles on television. The sky’s the limit now. We should be movie stars any day! Hahaha!
Pay attention to the few close-ups that Kim and I have, but we are also in the background several times. Unfortunately, they made very sure to edit out and only keep the shots where the DotNetNuke logo isn’t clearly visible. :’(
