Need Recommendations on Walking Shoes

When I agree to come onboard at DotNetNuke® Corporation, it was understood that I’d have to move to San Francisco.  This excited me, because I knew I would be able to change my commute of 30+ miles (when not telecommuting) to < 10 miles, and make use of public transportation.  As a result, I even sold my (*ahem*) truck.

“Don’t pay attention to the man behind the curtain!”

Anyhow, I made a commitment of walking and using public transportation as much as possible, with the possibility of upgrading to a bicycle and scooter in the near future.  As a result, I am walking my Nike cross-trainers to death.  The soles are coming loose now.

So begins the trek, looking for suitable walking shoes since I spend plenty of my time doing that.  I want a pair of shoes made for walking, that will last a while, and still look somewhat professional.

Professional is not a requirement, as I come to work pretty casual.  But I am trying to stray away from the neon designs that some athletic shoes have.

I have begun looking on Zappos, but haven’t settled on anything.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Need Recommendations on Walking Shoes

A few of you that read my blog made some great suggestions on Buzz and Twitter. Thank you! Here are the shoes that I went with: New Balance MX608V2, Asics Gel Strike 2 (for running).
