My Truck Has A Super Power! Oh. It’s Just Winter.

If you don’t already know, I live in Orlando, Florida.  This means different things to different people.  First, most people think of the rat.  Well, I guess that’d be Mickey Mouse or Disney to you.  It’s the “RAT” to me, but that’s another story…  Anyhow, it’s been uncharacteristically cold in Central Florida the last few days, and it’s supposed to last through the weekend.  This morning, I got a real good dose of how cold it actually is right now.

I woke up and got ready for work like I usually do when I have to work from the office.  This morning though, there was a small layer of ice on my windshield.  Well, in Florida, we do something that you’d not normally do to fix this.  We get a cup of hot water, and pour it over the windshield.  Problem solved.  Actually, we usually can just use our windshield wipers to get rid of the frost, but that wasn’t working this time.

I poured the hot water, and briskly walked the cup back into the house only to return to my truck windows already beginning to frost over again!  Whoa!  I live in Florida for a reason, and this wasn’t it!  My truck was growing ice, it seemed.  It hasn’t been that cold here my entire life.  I immediately thought of all kinds of jokes to tell you about the truck being Dr. Freeze, but they wouldn’t have been funny in writing.  :)

Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know how cold it is for us right now.  For us, it might as well be below 0 degrees farenheit.  Weather reports are saying right now to expect snow in Orlando this weekend.  Ugh…  Have you seen the movie The Day After Tomorrow?

From Last Year:  I expect the same kind of thing this year.

The hot water technique should not be attempted in any REALLY cold location, as your windshield will shatter, experience courtesy of a friend that moved from coastal California to Wisconsin.

@Richard: I know. But the coldest temps it gets here, are (usually) much different than Wisconsin. ;)
