One of the ways that I think I have gone green is with how I handle my allergies.
Not long ago, we attended the Green Earth Expo in Orlando, Florida. It is a convention that is open to the public and attempts to connect green companies and vendors with customers and
other vendors/companies. It was a big success! We learned lots of cool things.
I used the word "success" because Green Travel Hub was also there representing. We had a huge turnout at our booth. We had not only consumers pointing other consumers to our booth, but
other vendors were doing the same thing. We were giving out t-shirts to anyone that wanted to talk to us, and even vendors that were there promoting their own products and services were
wearing our shirts in their booths.
Anyhow... I digress. One of the things I was able to do there was to find an organic honey vendor who are also bee keepers. One of things that they sell is pollen that they collect weekly. I had long read that the best thing to do to control allergies is to not spend $40+ a month on medications like Zyrtec or Allegra, but to take a daily regimen of LOCAL pollen instead. I just never knew where to find any.
For $3.00, I bought a bag of pollen that will last me at least a month. That sounds too good to be true, right? Wrong! Since taking the pollen, I have not had to return to using any allergy medicine. It is such a relief to be able to get off of that. I cannot stand taking pills of any kind. While I do occassionally take things for a headache, I wait until I cannot bear it any longer.
So, how can you get some pollen? Find a bee keeper at a local farmers market. Or look one up on the Internet. If those sources prove unsuccessful, just begin asking folks around you where one can be found. Good places to start might be local florists.
You'll feel so much better once you get off of the allergy medication.
